When most children in Brisbane and the Gold Coast are thinking about The Ekka and the Gold Coast Show, our Kooralbyn students have only got 'FUN DAY' on their minds. It's the school's way of saying: 'Thank you' to students and staff for an awesome year so far and to get ourselves prepared for all the hard work coming up in Term 4.
Each year there's a mix of educational, fun and squealing-like-a-banshee challenges, designed to help our students bond, work together and discover strengths and talents they never knew they had. Whether it's singing up a storm on stage, discovering the secrets of archery, learning a groovy new dance move with your classmates or driving a Dodgem-Car through the obstacle course...Fun Day is something we hope our students will look back on in years to come... and not be able to stop the smile on their face.

TKIS Big FUN Day
An annual extravaganza every year... the TKIS Big FUN Day is a chance for all our students from Prep to Grade 12 to come together in a crazy day of screams, food and fantastic memories.
"It's about giving our students, who don't always get to visit the Royal Show in Brisbane, a chance to experience their own 'show'. It just keeps getting bigger every year and 2024 will be no exception", explained Mr Mills, the school principal.
What's on the menu for Big FUN Day, 2024?
Here's just a small sample:
- Rides: Dodgem Cars; Whipeout Challenge; Caveman Caper Bounce; Bat Tower
- Sports: Archery; Crazy Cricket; Wallyball; Dance Fights;
- Games: Laser Tag; Karaoke Star Stage; Nerf Tag
- Food: Sausage Sizzle; Beefburgers; Vegi-burgers; Fruit Pops
Some Frequently Asked Questions:
What do students need to bring? All costs for the day are covered by the school. Yes, That's right! The Big Fun Day is FREE for all TKIS students. All you need to bring is a water bottle, plenty of sunscreen protection and you'll need to wear your sports uniform, including sports hat, school jumper or tracksuit jacket if it's cold and you MIGHT want to bring a snack (morning tea, etc.,) because we only get to stop and eat formally once during the day...at lunch time.
Can parents or non-TKIS family members attend The Big FUN Day? Unfortunately, no. Since the entire day is catered for with food, rides, games and activities that have been organised around class groups, there's just no room to include parents or non-school siblings or friends. This is a day for students to have fun with their classmates. We WILL however, take LOTS of photos for the school Blog and parents will have access to them.
Are all the Fun Day activities appropriate for all students? No, but we schedule the games, sports, events and activities to be age-appropriate for each grade. While younger students are visiting the Petting Zoo for example, older students might be involved in an Archery lesson or a Laser-Tag skirmish. If parents wish to preclude their child from participating in any specific event, they can contact the school during office hours or send their instructions via email to admin@tkis.qld.edu.au.
